Dear FGSD Families,
It’s hard to believe that it is already the month of October, but it’s true -- we’ve made it through the first month of school. While these first weeks of in-person learning have not been without some bumps, we are thrilled that students are in the classrooms learning with their teachers. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we have navigated through the ups and downs of getting back to school after 18 months of digital learning. It hasn’t been easy, but we appreciate your partnership.
It is important that we remain dedicated to following the district’s layered health protocols to lessen the likelihood of COVID-19 spread. By following the protocols set forth by the Oregon Health Authority and Washington County Health, we will be in the best position to keep our schools safe and open for the remainder of the school year.
As a reminder, next Friday, October 8, 2021, will be a statewide inservice day. As such, there will be no school for PK-12th grade students. We hope that this three day weekend will allow families to take a breath as we push through the month of October.

Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15 to October 15 is National Hispanic American Heritage Month, where we take time to recognize the achievements and contributions of generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society. September was National Suicide Prevention Month
Studies indicate that helping someone at risk create a network of resources and individuals for support and safety can help them take positive action and reduce feelings of hopelessness. Forest Grove School District has a district-wide Suicide Prevention Policy and Plan that works to build staff awareness and support student connection across all schools. Help Plan a Safer Highway for Forest Grove!
Do you drive, walk, roll, bike or catch the bus on TV Highway (Oregon Highway 8 ) in East Forest Grove? The City of Forest Grove and Oregon Department of Transportation have several ideas like crosswalks, lighting and more to make it safer and more comfortable for everyone travelling on TV Highway. We need your input on which ideas you think will help most!

FGHS Food Pantry
The FGHS Food Pantry is open on Mondays from 4-5:30pm. It is in its new location in front of the school by the Basinski Center.

Estimadas familias de FGSD,
Es difícil creer que ya estamos en el mes de octubre, pero es cierto: hemos pasado el primer mes de clases. Si bien estas primeras semanas de aprendizaje en persona no han estado libres de obstáculos, estamos encantados de que los estudiantes estén en las aulas aprendiendo con sus maestros. Gracias por su paciencia y comprensión mientras hemos atravesado los altibajos de regresar a la escuela después de 18 meses de aprendizaje digital. No ha sido fácil, pero agradecemos su colaboración.
Es importante que sigamos dedicados a seguir los protocolos de salud estratificados del distrito para disminuir la probabilidad de propagación de COVID-19. Al seguir los protocolos establecidos por la Autoridad de Salud de Oregon y la Salud del Condado de Washington, estaremos en la mejor posición para mantener nuestras escuelas seguras y abiertas durante el resto del año escolar.
Como recordatorio, el próximo viernes 8 de octubre de 2021 será un día de capacitación en todo el estado. Como tal, no habrá clases para los estudiantes de PK a 12 ° grado. Esperamos que este fin de semana de tres días permita a las familias tomar un respiro mientras avanzamos en el mes de octubre.

Septiembre fue el Mes Nacional de Prevención del Suicidio
